SCR

The SCR or Senior Common Room, oversee the day to day running of Grizedale, and are an essential part of the college. Without these guys we would be more or less helpless.

It is university policy to allocate newly appointed employees of the University to a College. Staff can also express a preference as to which College they wish to become members of and can approach a College directly (usually via relevant College Officers) to receive information about becoming a Senior Member of the College. All Senior Members of a College are members of that College’s Senior Common Room (SCR) and Syndicate. Many Senior Members are also College Personal Tutors and this is a practice that we actively encourage and welcome!

Grizedale College has an active and varied social programme for its Senior Members. We normally try to organise several social events per term.

There are a number of events that you will be invited to as part of the social programme for Senior Members, and there are also numerous College events that you will be invited to which involve the entire College community – do please take the opportunity to attend any of the events that you receive information about…the more the merrier!

Hello! I’m Barbara and if you are very lucky I might let you share my college for a year or so. My job is to implement College Management decisions, that’s the paper shuffling bit. I also spend a lot of time talking with students. I am not an academic and I don’t know anything, but I know a lot of people who do so, if you have a question, ask me and I will point you in the right direction.

Senior Advisor

Welcome to Grizedale. As Senior Advisor, my role is to ensure the smooth running of the Welfare and Advisory system at Grizedale. I am also Duty Supervisor at the sports centre so feel free to stop and say hello. Each student is assigned a personal advisor within the college. You will meet them in your first week.

Publications Officer and Porter

Hi, I am a College Advisor and publications officer in Grizedale College. 

The four Porters are the Grizedale College Security and you will probably see more of them than any of our other college colleagues. They support the college 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and are there for any issues that happen outside of normal working hours. They always look forward to meeting new and returning students and to giving you the keys to your new home in Freshers’ Week!
